Fiber Filled Weekend

A few weekends ago my darling partner and I drove down to Florence to meet a lovely family of alpacas and score some new spinnable fluff.

This gal had the best buck teef.

Then we drove down to the Sand Dunes where we star-gazed, soup-cooked, and bundled-up for cold-camping.

We didn't get a chance to explore the dunes, due to a bout of (pregnancy induced?) altitude sickness. But I did get to puke into a jar as we drove away!
(I've only had altitude sickness one other time, when I first arrived in Colorado, and it is a very distinct, unmistakable kind of ill!)

Fortunately for me, we stumbled onto a HUGE fiber-destash-yard-sale where I nabbed a few skeins on the cheaps.

And THEN ran into the Salida Fiber Festival, which I totally meant to go to anyway but completely forgot about!

Needless to say, it was a very unexpectedly fiber-filled weekend.

Wherever life takes us

What do you say after a year of silence?

Let's get a little personal... Where have I been this past year??

I lived on a little farm near the Delaware river.

.

I witnessed the birth of a beautiful little lamb (as well as a complicated struggle between an ewe who birthed triplets and the ewe pictured, who stole one of the babies and then had twins, herself!)
.
.

I fell in love with an incredible boy!
And I asked him to marry me a thousand times...
.
Finally, he asked me! (The rings are from his father's wedding band set, engraved with "forever and always")
.

We packed our world into the car and traveled 1800 miles, through six states, to get from my home-state to his. (New York to Colorado)

This is the highest elevation in Kansas... mhm, flat.

Explored the Colorado mountains a bit.

The incredible boy and I created a life! (sometime in March we'll have a little human to share our lives with)
.

And here we are now, happy, healthy, and silly. (Disclaimer, we woke and dressed at different times. Totally unplanned, totally hilarious.)

Travels

Hello!
I'm not writing as often as I would like, so it's time to change that.
It's been nearly a month since I left for my cross-country adventure,
with my boyfriend, tons of wool, and my spinning wheel -
buckled safely into the back seat.

I'm staying in Florida for a bit.
Since I have a bit of free-interwebs time,
I'm re-opening my Etsy shop!

Next week's adventure entails only the essentials.
We're strapping our camping supplies onto two motorcycles,
and heading north on the scenic highway.
I think we're going through Georgia,
and possibly into Tennessee
(if the weather allows it).

If you happen to purchase something woolly from my Etsy shop,
please be aware that I won't be able to snail-mail it right away!

But I will be able to answer questions!
I'll try to connect to wifi
from discreet locations
every few days with
my iTouch.
Feel free to inquire about anything your heart desires.
:-)

I'll be back tomorrow to post about our adventures at the Luray Caverns in Virginia.
